With just a bit over two weeks until the big night, ARIA is proud to announce additional performers and presenters.
In additional to the performers already announced - Powderfinger, Silverchair, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins and Sneaky Sound System - organisers have confirmed that ARIA nominee GOTYE (pronounced Gore-ti-yeah!) will perform at the awards. The multi-talented musician, writer and producer, has scored four ARIA Award nominations (Best Male Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Dance Release and Album of the Year plus 2 Artisan Award nominations) for Mixed Blood, a remix album of songs from his extraordinarily successful sophomore release Like Drawing Blood. Made on a shoestring budget and independently released without any traditional marketing, Gotye's success is proof that the cream always rises to the top.
The captivating KATE MILLER-HEIDKE, whose debut album Little Eve also landed her four ARIA Award nominations (plus 1 Artisan Award nomination), in the categories of Best Female Artist, Breakthrough Artist-Single, Breakthrough Artist-Album and Best Pop Release, will bring her unique style to the ARIA Awards stage. Her beautifully crafted debut album was delivered earlier this year to overwhelming critical response, debuting at #11 on the National Motorola ARIA Album Chart. The first single Words soon caught the attention of media across the country and introduced fans to Kate's unique and eclectic style. Her current single Make It Last is another up-tempo pop song that features Kate's signature vocals and gorgeous melody. With a national tour slated for November/December, the divine Ms Kate Miller-Heidke will be one to watch at the 2007 ARIA Awards.
Formed at Elenora High (Gold Coast, QLD) in 2005 during chess class, young upstarts OPERATOR PLEASE will ditch their school uniforms to perform at the ARIA Awards. Nominated twice (Best Pop Release and Breakthrough Artist-Single, plus 1 Artisan Award) for the infuriatingly catchy single Just A Song About Ping Pong, the song hit number 12 on the ARIA chart here and number 1 on the UK MTV chart. With a new single Get What You Want, a new album Yes Yes Vindictive (released through EMI on November 10th) and a major national tour that kicks off in November, the future's so bright they'll have to wear shades. In the meantime, all eyes are on the 2007 ARIA Awards. Who knows? They may take home an ARIA Award before they take home their High School Certificate!
Host ROVE McMANUS will be joined on stage by JAMES MATHISON and guest presenters including DELTA GOODREM, BEN LEE, CRAIG REUCASSEL, CHRIS TAYLOR and DAVE HUGHES.
The winner of no less than seven ARIA Awards, DELTA GOODREM, will take her turn on the other side of the podium at the 2007 Awards. With a hot new single In This Life (debuted at #1 and still going strong), a hot new look and a hot new, self titled album due for release on October 20th, the darling of the Australian music industry will make a welcome return to the ARIA stage.
Also no stranger to winning multiple ARIA Awards, the talented singer/songwriter DARREN HAYES will also make a special appearance at the 2007 ARIA Awards. With his current album This Delicate Thing We've Made out now, and a new single Me, Myself and I released on November 3rd, Darren is about to embark on his Time Machine tour of Australia.
Former ARIA Award winner and citizen of the world BEN LEE will have an ARIA homecoming off the back of brand new album Ripe and the breathtakingly catchy single Love Me Like the World is Ending. Here on an Australian tour, Ben will take time out to appear at the ARIAs before heading back to the US for a run of live shows.
Lock up your daughters! CRAIG REUCASSEL and CHRIS TAYLOR from the top rating water cooler program The Chasers War on Everything will dish it up at the 2007 ARIA Awards. Best known for pranks which include cross dressing, play acting and musical spoofs these errant sons of satire are guaranteed to set tongues wagging.
And last but certainly not least, everyone's favourite Aussie comedian DAVE HUGHES will be back to entertain at the 2007 ARIA Awards. He might have the laconic drawl but he also has one of the fastest comic minds this country has ever seen. We love ya Hughesy!
Tickets for the 2007 ARIA Awards are selling like the proverbial hotcakes with industry tickets selling out in record time. General Admission tickets for the general public are also moving fast with just under 2,000 left.
Stand by for further announcements in the coming weeks.
