The first ARIA Awards for 2015 will proudly be presented at the official ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra NOMINATIONS EVENT in Sydney on Wednesday, October 7.

ARIA Chairman and Chairman & CEO Australia and New Zealand, and President, Asia, Sony Music Entertainment, Denis Handlin AM, said:
“Congratulations to all of this year’s nominees in the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards. The ARIA board is delighted to celebrate the diverse and talented Australian musicians and artisans in all seven categories. It will be a pleasure to join together with the nominees, labels and industry partners to recognise the excellent work, passion and contributions represented through these awards.”

The ARIA Nominations Event honours our impressive 2015 ARIA Nominees for the FINE ARTS and ARTISAN Award categories including; Best Classical Album, Best Jazz Album, Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show Album, Best World Music Album along with Producer Of The Year, Engineer Of the Year and Best Cover Art.
The FINE ARTS and ARTISAN Award categories herald the beginning of the 2015 ARIA celebrations leading up to ARIA Week festivities from November 20 and the 2015 ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra on Thursday, November 26 at The Star Event Centre, Sydney that will be broadcast around Australia on TEN.

ARIA is thrilled to continue the tradition of unveiling commemorative artwork to celebrate the ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra and we are honoured to announce that 2015 Archibald Prize finalist, Koori visual artist, Blak Douglas has designed the commemorative artwork for this year’s ARIAs. Blak Douglas said:
“Generally my paintings are known for a sharp commentary on social justice and with quirky titles and poignant metaphors, often within a trademark 'Australiana' landscape. This year's ARIA design is of no exception. I immediately thought of the unearthed. The unsung, the undiscovered, the forgotten and the excluded. Only a very small percentage of talented musicians have their voices heard. Commodification... the make and break of the broadcasted voice. The visual metaphor in my design is the Thylacine. It's vocal frustration goes unheard within then treacherous landscape spiked with awards. A virtual minefield of opportunity. The road sign indicates the journey ahead. The rewards will come so long as there's enough fuel in the tank.”
This is the third year an Australian artist has created a unique commemorative artwork to celebrate the ARIAs. The inaugural ARIAs commemorative artwork was revealed in 2013, designed by much-loved Australian artist and ARIA Hall Of Fame recipient, Reg Mombassa. In 2014, Australian icon, Ken Done (A.M.) perfectly captured the spirit of the Awards with his colourful and bold take on the commemorative artwork.

ARIA CEO, Dan Rosen added:
“We are very excited to be launching the 2015 ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra celebrations by recognising the incredible nominees for the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards. These accomplished artists and technicians continue to push the boundaries and we are proud to have them represent the Australian music industry both here and around the world.

We are also delighted to welcome Koori visual artist, Blak Douglas to the ARIAs this year. Throughout his career he has created some award-winning paintings and we are very fortunate to have had his talent and creativity involved in designing this year's ARIAs commemorative poster.”

The ARIA Awards and ARIA Week are proudly supported by the NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.
